Jokulsarlon

This is the last really interesting place, when going east aong the southern 1-road. This time there was a seal cub, which had tried to enter lagoon in low tide. The current is so hard, that it had exhausted and was resting at the beach.

In the beach you can find some ice artwork. Some ice cubes on black sand and some still on the water jammed on the beach. There is nice figures and shapes in the ice.

Is there faces in the ice ?

Some birds flying

some swimming

and some fishing

Some photosessions were going on...

And the blue ice

from this block
You can see the low tide current has some force.

And some photos of the lagoon.

Skaftafell

Next stop was Skaftafell, which has been one stop in all my trips. Now I made a walk close to Skeidararjökull glacier.

The glacier has pushed a big ridges of gravel. Then it has retracted and there is a huge valley inside ridges. There is also a nasty glacial river so better stay in ridges. Is photos you can see "kettleholes", which are pots where an block of ice has melted. When melting it can be a quicksand trap.

Next day I made a walk to Kristintindar, but I did not go to the top, because it was very windy again. I had only drone with me, so I flew it only in a shelter of the mountains. Close Morsarjökull was first flight. There is a icefall, so about every 30 minutes I heard a thunder when iceblocks were falling. I got one fall accidentally to a drone video. The sound comes 10 seconds late so you should spot the fall with your eyes. When you here it, it's over.

An on the other side there is the Skaftafellsjökull. I took a risk in flyng the drone, but got it back home with a little bit of luck. It was not moving againtst the wind in normal mode I had to use sport mode to get it going. Stick control is way too sensitive in sports mode to have good video...

And when I was leaving the area I visited another glacier Svinafelljökull. It was a calm morning so I had the drone into the glacier.

and now there is a second clip of drone footage
